Theres are many companies who claim to certify your diamond, but the top rated institution is GIA. The gemological institute of america is highly revered and respected as a staple of the gem and diamond trade. The certificate will cost a couple hundred bucks but it will increase the value of your diamond as well. Selling a Watch

What type of information should you know before coming in to sell your watch?

Well first off, you should know that different watches are different prices. The brand, model, make, condition, and year made all factor into this decision. Watches which include the original manufacturer papers and boxes can fetch upto 15% more cash for a watch without any of this documentation and materials. This is because when we re-sell the watch the buyer feels more comfortable with a watch that includes old warranties, boxes, and papers.

So there you have it, if you have a watch to sell... just check for the boxes, papers, and anything else that came with it.. it could get you a few extra bucks !

How can a jeweler tell what type of gold you have, and if its real or fake?

There are many different types of gold jewelry, from 4k-24k. Jewelers must be able to differentiate amongst these different types to determine the value and cost of the jewelry. The simple solution to this problem are the acid and slab testing system.

The way this works is the gold jewelry is rubbed against a black slab rock and some of the gold rubs onto the slab. Next we pour an acid onto the marking and watch the magic happen. If the color stays this means we have real gold. If the color vanishes and the acid removes the marking we have fake gold!

Now we have different acids for each of the different karats of gold, and this is how we test the gold !

Also, we can use magnets to test gold as well.... because gold is not magnetic !
